Refugee Advocacy and Support
Coram - Always Heard Helpline / Always Heard Safety Net Project. Always Heard provides advice and advocacy for Looked After Children, Care Leavers and young people on the edge of care from 0-25 years old. Email: help@coramvoice.org.uk, phone number: 0808 800 5792.
Freedom From Torture - They provide specialist psychological therapy to help asylum seekers and refugees who have survived torture recover and rebuild their lives in the UK. And we provide training for professionals working with torture survivors. Refugee Council Advocacy - They support with accessing legal representation, attending interviews and hearings, advocacy for health and social care appointments, education, one of their many projects is specifically for children, but they work with people of every age. Just for Kids Law - They help children and young people overcome all the difficulties they face, from problems at school and issues with immigration status to trouble with the police.e. Micro Rainbow - Their mission is to provide safe housing to LGBTQI asylum seekers and refugees. To facilitate access to employment, volunteering, training and education for LGBTQI refugees. To research and better understand the specific issues faced by LGBTQI asylum seekers and refugees and to make recommendations that improve their lives. Young Roots - Offering a range of activities to unaccompanied young people, including group and 1:1 support, casework services (offers bespoke one-to-one support and advocacy to young people, aged 11-25), Youth Welfare Project (supports the wellbeing of newly arrived young male refugees aged 18-25 years, living in initial accommodation), and social events including trips during school holidays. Women for Women Refugees - Advocacy and support for women who have faced injustice and seek asylum in the UK. Every Monday during term-time, we provided free English lessons for over 100 women. We have classes suitable for every woman, from Beginner to Advanced, with a dedicated group for mums to learn English alongside their young children. rama group, Refugee Women’s Voice, is hosted by the Southbank Centre on Fridays and supports women to develop performance poetry to tell their stories safely and creatively to wide audiences. Asylum Welcome - Recycled laptops and devices, this project enables our younger clients and adult clients to continue their education and pursue employment, remain connected with friends and families, and access online information, support and resources.
